Pay income tax directly from your bank account

Complete the following steps to pay your income tax balance from your checking or savings account.

  1. Check the ‘Owe – electronic funds withdrawal’ box on your income tax form.
  2. Enter your bank's nine-digit routing number. See the sample check below to locate your checking account routing number. Your bank can provide your savings account routing number.
  3. Enter your bank account number. See the sample check below to locate your checking account number (up to 17 characters). Do not include your check number. Your savings account number is available on your preprinted deposit slips, your passbook, or other bank records.
  4. Enter an electronic funds withdrawal date only if you want to specify a future payment date up to and including April 15, 2008. The bank will not withdraw money from your account before the date you specify.

Important information about your bank account.
Before you complete this transaction, you must first contact your bank and make sure that your bank account does not have a debit block. If it does, you'll need to provide the bank with our debit block information so your payment will not be rejected.
